| Event Title |
Historical Walking Tour of Greenbank |
| Event Description |
The area now known as Greenbank was settled in the 1830’s, later than surrounding areas due to the swampy terrain. The first settlers quickly discovered that the fine sandy loam, deposited by the ice age glaciers, was excellent soil for farming. Led by Paul Arculus, President of the Lake Scugog Historical Society, on this historical walk guests will explore the colourful history of the village that used to be known as Smiths Corners and Gimlet Town; and have the opportunity to meet some of the locals including relations of the Craggs', Beares', Lansons' and Blairs'. |
