Taking Steps Against Breast Cancer - Brighton

Event Description

Discover the town of Brighton and support a good cause. The purpose of the walk is to heighten awareness of cancer prevention and to raise money for breast cancer research.  Participants can hike a short trail or take a longer, more challenging hike through Proctor Park. At this time of year the scenery and outdoor experience is worth every step.

For Whom

For everyone! This event is accessible to persons with disabilities. Cancer survivors are encouraged to participate in a survivor walk (short, flat surface)

Level of Challenge

Easy.  Approximate distance is 1.5 km.  Hiking time is under an hour. Recommended for those who are not in top condition. 

Moderate. Approximate distance is 3.5 km.  Hiking time is approximately 2 hours. This trail is more challenging and although it is only 3.5 kms, it is on uneven ground winding up and down through a forest setting.   

Registration

Yes. While people are encouraged to pre-register  â€œon-line”, casual walkers/hikers are welcome to join the activities.    www.cancer.ca/takingsteps

This event will also include opening ceremonies, warm-up exercises, light snacks, refreshments and local entertainment. Come for the day, weekend or week and enjoy Brighton’s tourist attractions.
