Peterborough Family Cycling Adventure Saturday, September 20th, 2008 A lovely cycle ride along the Scenic River Road Trail between Peterborough and Lakefield. Participants receive healthy treats at checkpoints along the trail. At each checkpoint, participants get their Cycling Adventure Passport stamped. When they complete their ride, participants submit their passport to be entered in a draw for prizes. Cyclists start at Trent University and follow the river along the trail to just before Lakefield. The distance of the ride is approximately 8 km each way. You decide how far you want to ride. more...

Salmon River Canoe Paddle Sunday, September 28th, 2008 Join local naturalist and canoeing/kayaking enthusiast Terry Sprague as he guides you on an interpretive paddle up the Salmon River, from Roblin to Croydon. This scenic quiet stretch of the river is full of colour in the fall and a delight to paddle. Rub shoulders with some of the river's inhabitants and learn about the wildflowers along the way, as well as the river's history. Look at some of the incredible flora and fauna along the way - great blue herons, water willow, painted turtles, and buttonbush. We will have lunch near an old bridge ruins where the river is but a trickle, before returning back to our cars. This October 2008 join fellow Geocachers in the search for suitable donor organs and assist a renowned medical team of Cracker-Jack-Doctors as they perform radical reconstructive surgery on Professor Hossenfeffer. This activity does not require an in-depth knowledge of anatomy but you should know your left arm for your right ventricle. Rated “G” this outing is suitable for all ages so kids it’s all right to bring your parents as long as they promise to behave.
