2008 Get Fit Events This are events for those looking for reasons to get and stay in shape. The Frontenac Challenge September 1st - October 31, 2008 The Frontenac Challenge involves hiking all 160 km of the Frontenac Provincial Park’s trail network between September 1st and October 31st.To meet the challenge, all participants have to do is pick up a registration form from the Frontenac Provincial Park Office, obtain a park permit and then set out to hike through the autumn splendour of Frontenac Provincial Park. Participants will receive a certificate at an award BBQ on November 9th at the park. more... Hastings Highlands Hilly Hundred Saturday, September 13th, 2008 The 3rd Annual Hastings Highlands Hilly Hundred, billed as “Ontario’s Toughest Century Ride”, is a cycling event that weaves its way through the hills and valleys of the Canadian Shield from Bancroft, Combermere, Wilno, Barry’s Bay and back. Participants can choose from 4 distances, approximately 60k, 80k, 160k, and 240k. The terrain is a mix of gentle country paved roads, limited highway riding, and “breathtaking” hills carved through ancient granite bedrock. Depot in the Fall Sunday, September 14th, 2008 The 9 km hike gets you up close and personal with lakes, granite outcrops, polyploidy ferns, beaver dams, logging history and interior campsites in the Depot Lakes Conservation Area.
